A major advantage for brownfield projects

To improve the economics of production from mature or secondary fields, we need to be constantly innovating so we can access additional reserves at the lowest possible cost. Total E&P AngolaTotal AngolaShow more has always been actively involved in promoting innovation in exploration and production. In 2018, for example, we were — alongside the Deepwater product line — a finalist in Total E&P’s Best Innovators competition, with a groundbreaking solution for preventing hydrates* from forming as fluids flow from the reservoir to surface treatment units. Known as NADAH, it slashes our costs compared to conventional approaches such as insulating or heating subsea flowlines or using thermodynamic additives. That’s a big advantage for brownfield projects, since the wellheads are often quite far from the nearest surface infrastructure.
