Jean Blancard - President of the Petroleum Research Bureau, administrator of the PSC, ERAP and SNPA

Born August 18, 1914 in Paris. Polytechnic university. Engineer at the Corps des mines. Engineer in Chalon-sur-Saône, then teacher at the École des mines de Paris during the War. Joined the fuel department at the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 1943, and became director of fuels from 1951 to 1959, then president of the BRP (Petroleum Research Bureau) from 1959 to 1965. He was then vice- President of ERAP when BRP merged with RAP, and Director General of Exploration-Production from 1965 to 1968. Administrator of ERAP since 1965, he has become one of the PSC and SNEA in 1977. He was also a director of other companies including Gaz de FrancePays FranceShow more, SNCF, etc. and vice-president of Régie Renault. He was also vice-president of the General Council of Mines from 1969 to 1982, president of the industrial equipment of the CEA (French Atomic Energy Commission). He was Ministerial Delegate for Armaments (1968-1973), then Ministerial Delegate for Energy (1973-1975), then Chairman of the Consultative Commission for the Production of Nuclear Electricity (1974-1975), then vice-president of the Classified Installations Council (1977). He published his memories in: The Energy Policy - Memories of the XXth century told to my grandchildren (Commentary, 2009/3, pp. 693-702). It was he who built the building on rue Nélaton (ERAP headquarters, then Elf) in Paris for the BRP.
