Henri Jules Oertli - Geologist at Elf Aquitaine, researcher

Born February 18, 1927 in Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées).

Universities of Bern and Montpellier. From 1951 to 1956 provided the secretariat for the Swiss Association of Petroleum Geologists and Technicians. In 1955 he was on an internship in Germany at Mobil. Doctorate in 1956 with a thesis on ostracodes.

Joined the CEP in 1956, at the Chambourcy research center. In 1959 joined the SNPA, at the Research Center, in the geology department, where he devoted himself to micropaleontology until 1988, when he retired.

He became an internationally recognized expert, publishing numerous studies or holding several presidencies. Professor in the Department of Geology and Paleontology, Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva (from 1988).
