Henri de Cizancourt - First great geologist of the Compagnie Française des pétroles

Civil engineer of Mines. Chief geologist between the two wars and during the Second World War. He was responsible for several studies on the Carpathians and Romania between 1925 and 1927, then on North Africa. In 1936, he had made a mission in Afghanistan. In 1940, he led a mission on the northern slope of the Pyrenees. In 1948, he was still responsible for geology at the CFP; he carried out a long mission in Mexico and VenezuelaTotal au VenezuelaShow more. In 1953 he was sent to CanadaPays CanadaShow more to establish a branch in Calgary. Quite amusingly, he would have bought an apartment in the sixteenth arrondissement of Paris which had previously been occupied by Brigitte Bardot (rue Bellini). His wife, Marie (1896-1978), was an expert in the knowledge of nummulites (group of fossils of carbonated foraminifera), on which she taught at the Sorbonne. From her name Styrnal, she was of Polish origin, and was a long time member of the Polish Geological Society. Cizancourt married him in 1925 (they are a bit like the Pierre and Marie Curie of exploration). She left Poland in 1928. Both collaborated in a study of the Indou Kouch with Henri Vautrin in 1938. Was he related to Henri de Cizancourt, who was president of the SIM (Société de l'industrie minérale) from 1874 to 1880?
