Born on 7 September 1928 in Baillet-en-FrancePays FranceShow more (Val d'Oise). Lycée Condorcet (Paris), Lycée d'Albi, Lycée Louis-le-Grand, École polytechnique. Engineer at the Corps des Mines. Mining engineer in Strasbourg (1952-1957). Director, then Deputy Director General of the SNPA between 1957 and 1976. CEO of Elf RE (1973-1976). Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Elf Aquitaine from 1977 to 1990, then Director. Chairman of SNEAP from 1976 to 1989. Two phases in a career entirely devoted to upstream and research: first within SNPA, marked by the development of Lacq, then the search for other sources of hydrocarbons (North Sea, North Africa, etc.); then the Elf Aquitaine period, which adapted the Group to the second shock, then to the oil counter-shock with in particular developments in sub-Saharan Africa. He also took an interest in chemicals and health. He was the man in the business under the responsibility of presidents who had not been in the business (Albin Chalandon and Michel Pecqueur). Dismissed from operational responsibilities upon the arrival of Loïc Le Floch Prigent as Chairman of the Group in 1989, he retired "for personal reasons" in 1990. Member of the Conseil Général des Mines. Chairman of the Fondation entreprise et performance after 1991. Former Director of Gaz de FrancePays FranceShow more and COGEMA. Chairman of the French Association of Petroleum Technicians in 1981-1982. Chairman of the National Council of Engineers and Scientists of FrancePays FranceShow more in 1992. Died on 22 March 2001.
