Born April 7, 1927 in Avignon.
Lycée Frédéric-Mistral d'Avignon, Ecole Polytechnique, engineer, then Chief Engineer of the Mines.
Engineer, then assistant (1952), then head of the technical department in the fuels directorate (1955-1962).
Joined the Elf Group in 1962, assigned to the construction of the Dakar refinery. Director of the SAR (African Refining Company).
In 1968, he was put in charge of DEXA, the department managing the Group's interests in overseas refineries. He then moved to the research department of the downstream branch (Elf-Union), then, on December 1, 1977, became director of the energy savings office until 1988. He became a member, then president of the ATEE (Technical Association for Energy Savings, which will become on his proposal AT for Energy Efficiency).
