André Bouillot - Vice-president of SNPA then of Elf Aquitaine

Born on January 23rd 1912 in Châteaudun (Eure et Loir). Collège de Compiègne, Kléber high school in Strasbourg, Ecole polytechnique, engineer in the Corps des mines. André Bouillot began his career as an engineer in the service of the mines in Algeria in 1935, in Douai (North) during the Second World War, then in Saint-Étienne (Loire). After the war, he was appointed to the Bureau des recherches et participations minières in Rabat in 1947 as administrator and director. He then became vice-president of the Chérifienne des pétroles in 1952. In 1955 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer, then Director - Chief Executive Officer, then Vice President of the Société nationale des pétroles d'Aquitaine (SNPA) from 1955 to 1976, then of the Société nationale Elf Aquitaine. At the same time, he was Chairman of the Société de recherches et d'exploitation des pétroles de TunisieTotal en TunisieShow more (SEREPT) from 1961 to 1967. From 1968 to 1977 he was Vice President of the Entreprise de recherches et d'activités pétrolières (ERAP). In 1977, he was President of the Economic Development Bureau of the Adour countries until 1985. From 1977 to 1981, he was also Chairman of Elf Tunisia. Vice President of the French Centre for Christian Employers from 1977 to 1984. As a young engineer, he published some studies on coke. He died on December 30, 2003. For the Elf Group, and more broadly for the history of French upstream oil, André Bouillot was the man who believed in Lacq's natural gas; he was the man who sought to develop a field that experts advised to be abandoned, at a time when there was virtually no gas experience and expertise in Europe. André Bouillot's vision is strategic, in that it combines technological ambition, the country's energy independence and the development of a new industrial sector, natural gas, which still remains a competitive advantage for the Total Group.
