1988 - 2019

  • 1988, Petrofina discovers oil in the Gulf of Thailand (Songklha).

  • 1989, Total obtains the role of operator in an offshore field (structure B) of which it holds 30%.

  • 1990, Total develops the Bongkot gas field.

  • 1991, Petrofina acquires new interests.

  • 1993, Total starts producing the Bongkot field.

  • 1993, Elf creates Atotech, world leader in electroplating and opens a subsidiary.

  • 1995, Petrofina decides to withdraw from Thailand where his research was disappointing.

  • 1996, Total acquires 33% in exploration blocks in the Andaman Sea. Total signs several agreements in the lubricants or LPG distribution sector in Thailand. Total also launches the construction of a plant.

  • 1998, Total completes the development of phase 3 of Bongkot. Total transfers the operator role to PTT-EP and increases its interest from 30 to 33.3%. Total starts gas deliveries.

  • 1999, TotalFina takes a stake in a combined cycle power plant. Commissioning of a PS compound unit.

  • In 2003, EPEC, of ​​which TOTAL holds 28%, commissioned in March and operates Bang Bo's combined cycle plant with a capacity of 350 MW.
