First activities in exploration
Total’s gas exploration operations in Myanmar date back to 1992, when the Group began developing the Yadana gas field to supply local markets in Myanmar and Thailand. Exploration is also in progress at other blocks.
A social and economic development program is under progress both nationwide and locally, addressing communities located in the vicinity of the pipeline between Myanmar and Thailand. The program serves 40,000 people in 33 villages.
